Any of Daniel Dumile's aliases (Super Villan, MF Doom, Viktor Vaughan... etc) are pretty lyrically crafty and always drop a heavy beat... but I listen to so much underground it's hard to know what is qualified anymore, what people know and don't, or what's just "Old School".
I do love Jay Electronica's lyrics so if you don't know him, check him out; Keith Murray is more old school but legit: Phonte's simile's will keep your attention; I could listen to Chali 2NA's voice all day; I love Guilty Simpson, especially his collaborations with J Dilla; and if you want a more mellow sound check out The Procussions, Strange Fruit Project, and Surreal & the Sound Providers.
